Life at IUPUC

In July 2024, IUPUC will become IU Columbus. An extension of IU’s Indianapolis campus, the Columbus campus offers 10 four-year undergraduate degrees and two graduate degrees in a personal, supportive environment where community is core to the college experience.

Picture yourself here

It may be small, but IU’s Columbus campus makes a big impression with its welcoming atmosphere, art-filled grounds, and strong focus on personal attention and support. Our two dedicated buildings are housed alongside Purdue Polytechnic and Ivy Tech campuses on a former airport property at the edge of Columbus, now dotted with lush green spaces, modern sculptures, and architectural shared buildings. While all students live off campus, there is cost-efficient, student-only housing available within walking distance if you want to live close by.

The Columbus campus is known for its family-like community, with an average class size of 14 students and faculty who know students’ names and take an active role in their success. Research opportunities, internship programs, and study abroad options are readily available and easy to explore, along with a small but active list of student organizations and community service programs.

I’ve loved meeting people on campus and places like the Academic Resource Center (ARC). My writing tutor there has been so passionate about his job it makes me feel elated to go there. . . . Seeing him try his best makes me want to try my best.

Active student organizations and events

Whether you love basketball, want to learn sign language, or have a passion for social activism, you’ll find a range of opportunities to get involved and build your community—as well as one-on-one support for starting your own club or organization if you don’t find what you’re looking for. Annual events like the Big Red Blowout, Tent City, and Homecoming bring even more students together to explore activities, meet new friends, and feel the Crimson Pride come to life.

A focus on student success

Pursuing a degree is an exciting but challenging journey. At IU’s Columbus campus, student support and guidance are built into the college experience from day one, including one-on-one faculty and peer mentorships, free tutoring through the Academic Resource Center, and Adaptive Education Services and counseling services for students with physical, mental, or other challenges. Career services help to connect students with internships and jobs in the Columbus area, and strong ties to community businesses and organizations offer more resources for educational support and career development.

Innovative tools and training facilities

Our campus is always growing to incorporate new and upgraded learning environments. Cutting-edge labs and facilities include a 3D printing lab open to all students and faculty, a brand-new mental health counseling center for training and research, and the School of Nursing Simulation Center, one of only 100 labs in the world to be fully accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
