How Dani Ferguson is helping women get to the root of their digestive problems with her company Detoxing with Dani

Describe your business in a few words?

I help women clear their stubborn acne by addressing gut health and uncovering the root cause so that we can clear their skin for good.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

Seeing a need and having gone through the struggle of acne myself I knew I needed to help women like myself and from there it turned into a business.

What was your background prior to starting your own business?

I was a marketing director for a wellness company and then for my family business.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

I always knew I wanted to be in a leadership position. Even as a little girl I would say I would be a CEO one day.

Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?

In the beginning I don’t think I even had a strategy to be honest. I just started talking about my journey, how I healed myself and tips and tools I used along the way and from sharing my story I started to get clients.

We always learn the most from our mistakes, share a time with us that you made a mistake or had a challenging time in business and what you learned from it?

There is only so far you can go without a plan. I remember getting featured by a pretty big account one time and not having any lead magnets to send them to so I was getting all these messages asking the same questions and frustrating myself and losing all those leads I didn’t get to in time.

What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?

Launching my new brand The Acne Wellness Center, as a hub for anyone struggling with their skin where they can come and know where to start and know they are on the right track.

What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

Building out The Acne Wellness Center Community and eventually opening up a brick and mortar wellness center where we can host wellness retreats, offer treatments daily and have a place and space to commune and nourish ourselves and each other.

What is the biggest lesson you have learned in 2020?

Sometimes you need to be still in order to grow.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were first starting your business?

Stay focused, stay in your lane, and become the master of my craft. Don’t look at what others are doing.

How have you managed to stay grounded this year?

My morning routine is what keeps me sane.

Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?

I believe in balance but I don’t think it’s going to be a daily balance, sometimes work needs more of my time than life and vice versa. There are seasons and balancing those seasons is what is most important. I always listen to my intuition. If I am feeling run down and tired, stopping to take a 20 minute nap is sometimes the most productive thing I can do.

What’s something our audience would be surprised to learn about you?

Even to this day I have my days where a 9-5 job seems like a good idea. We all have our days.

What are your top 3 tips to stay productive each day?

Have a morning routine to center yourself.

Have 3 anchor points throughout the day to re-center and take a break.

Turn your phone on Do Not Disturb.

What does being an Entreprenista mean to you?

Serving others to the best of my ability with fierce love and grace for myself and others.
