Describe your business in a few words:
Hi! I’m Candace Noel, Founder and Owner of Flora Noel, a floral and event design studio based in Houston, Texas that specializes in personalizing experiences for special events and private spaces. We design floral arrangements that convey the desired mood of each event through color, shape, texture, and movement. Our florals set the tone. We also offer floral subscriptions, fresh floral deliveries, and gift cards.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
Before starting my own business, I was a Creative Director and Graphic Designer for a non-profit. I’ve also had my own graphic design business for 12 years.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Yes. Both of my parents are entrepreneurs. So, it is something I’ve been exposed to since I was a child.
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
My strategy was to use social media to get the word out. I’ve been able to get exposure for my business via social media, a tv/radio interview,
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
I believe in work/life balance. However, it is difficult since I’m juggling being a solopreneur and a mother. My best tip is to listen to your body, rest when you need to, and don’t feel guilty about it.
What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?
I’m a recipient of the Entrepreneurial Spirit Fund by SIA Scotch Grant.
What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
Events! I look forward to getting back to designing for events and launching floral workshops.
What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?
I am excited about connecting with like-minded entrepreneurs in an effort to collaborate and learn about improving as an entrepreneur.
