A Social Guru to Watch: Savannah Adams of Navvy shares her Entreprenista story
Describe your business in a few words:
My name is Savannah Adams. I am a mom, entrepreneur, Instagram influencer, fashionista, and nature lover. I started Navvy, a social media management agency, one year ago because I am dedicated to giving a voice to ethical brands making big impacts in their communities. Navvy primarily focuses on health-related organizations through health education, health literacy, health outreach, and organic patient connections.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
I have a B.S. in Communication from the University of Utah. During college, I worked directly with the Lassonde Entrepreneurship Institute which ignited my passion for entrepreneurship. After graduation, I started my career in paid advertising and eventually left that career to return to my home community to make an impact on a smaller, more localized, scale. I have been doing freelance work in the marketing industry for over 5 years. After I had my first baby, I decided it was time to take the leap into my own agency.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
My passion for entrepreneurship really started at the Lassonde Entrepreneurship Institute. When I was little, I just wanted to work with people, but as I got older, I saw the amazing impact of being an entrepreneur and knew that was the path for me.
Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out, and did it go as planned?
When we started our business our marketing strategy was lacking. We were primarily working with businesses we knew on a part-time basis. We didn’t have a dedicated marketing strategy, but quickly learned that would work for us. About 6 months into our business I quit my full time job, and we started to fully pivot into the healthcare industry because that is where we saw the biggest need.
What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?
In our first year, Navvy has worked with over 20 organizations. To me, that is immensely successful given the challenges we have faced and the lessons we have learned.
Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?
I do believe in work/life balance. My best tip for work/life balance is to practice being present. In whatever I do, I show up 100%. The quality of the time I spend matters much more to me than the quantity. I believe that if I show up 100% as a mom, then I am able to show up 100% as a business owner, and vice versa.
What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?
We are very proud of our work in the healthcare industry. We recently rolled out a new product for health awareness campaigns, and we believe it will create a significant impact on the industry especially for Federally Qualified Health Centers and Primary Care Associations.
What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
We are ready to take the healthcare industry by storm. The goal for us, is to be a well known name in the healthcare industry for social media management. We just launched a health care marketing support group and two new social media packages that will 1. complement an existing outreach team or 2. allow an organization to outsource their marketing and health outreach.
What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?
Being in the Entreprenista League is so exciting to me because I will get to connect with so many amazing women. In the community I grew up in, it is rare to see a woman in business let alone a woman entrepreneur. I am excited to connect with fellow Entreprenista’s that I can learn from and grow with.
