Veteran Marketing Exec Mindy Anderson Brings Brands’ Stories to Life
Hi, Mindy! Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:
Mindy Anderson is a veteran marketing executive, growth strategist, fractional chief marketing officer, and Founder of I Breathe Marketing. She has a proven record of building stronger brands, driving client engagement, and attracting more leads while maximizing return on marketing spend.
Who are your customers?
B2B management consultant, financial services, and professional services companies.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
With 20 years of leading the market strategy for worldwide iconic brands including Citi, EY, and Infor as well as startups alike, I now help SMBs land and expand by bringing your brand story to life.
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
I love to create marketing with impact and want to help companies stand out, not blend in. Now I do this through my own business instead of for a company.
Take us back to when you first launched your business; what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
Two years ago, I started my business and never had to get the word out because I had a lot of work. Now, I am working on amplifying my brand.
What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way so far and what have you learned from it?
I didn’t launch my brand with a campaign, and didn’t get my own system down because I was too busy working on client work. Now, I am trying to get my lead generation, sales cycle, and closing process down.
What accomplishment are the most proud of to date in your business?
During my first year I did very well financially without having to do much. I know this can be a shaky time, but I was fortunate enough to have a great first year.
What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
I am looking to grow my client base and open another business potentially.
What is your top productivity tip?
Block out time in your calendar for what you need to do. This will help you stay on track.
On the flip side, how do you avoid burnout?
It’s important to have time in nature and with family. I start my morning with a walk, get some sunshine in (when the weather cooperates), and cuddle with my husband. For me, the little things are the big things.
Family time is critical! We love that you make time for it. What is your approach to work-life balance / integration?
Recognize when your body is shutting down and listen to it. Restore your mind, body, and soul.
What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?
Learn everything about getting new clients and closing the sale.
Are you a Mamaprenista? If so, please share your best advice for simultaneously managing a business and a family:
I have two teenagers. I am trying to teach my kids right now about running their business so I will likely start another business where my kids may work with me.
What’s the one app on your phone you absolutely cannot live without and why?
LinkedIn and Slack…it has a ton of my communities and network.
