Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business:

I am a licensed mental health counselor, anxiety treatment specialist and host of “Thoughts from the Couch” podcast. I currently maintain a private practice in New York and help individuals and families improve symptoms of anxiety and depression, move through feelings of grief, and recover from dysfunctional family relationships. I also have a signature online program for perfectionists called “The Path to Peace.” This course offers a step-by-step system that is clinically proven to reduce anxiety, set better boundaries and help you create a personal mental health routine.

What excites you about being an Entreprenista League member?

I can’t wait to network and be around other women running their own businesses. It’s hard to find that type of connection in every day life!

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

With my training and education, I knew I could move people forward when they were feeling stuck. I dreamed of making psychotherapy more modernized and also more accessible and less intimidating.

What was your background prior to starting your own business?

I worked for psychiatric hospitals and a family mental health agency.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Not at all. It kind of unfolded step by step for me. I knew I wanted to have a private practice, but I didn’t know how I could make an impact on people’s mental health outside of my office doors. I now have my podcast and online course to help with this dream.

Take us back to when you first launched your business, what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?

I met with as many psychotherapists in private practice as I could in my area. I wanted to learn about how they started to reach clients and grew their practice while also growing their family. This took some time but within 6 months I had a full practice from meeting other clinicians who began to give my name out to potential clients.

What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way and what did you learn from it?

Setting my boundaries between my work life and my home life. I LOVE my career and I am so excited about scaling my business, but also want to spend quality time with my kids and husband. I was afraid to set boundaries with my work hours because I thought I would miss out on something. I have learned that I can manage both a practice and home life, both in a successful way and that my boundaries are exacty what I need to make this happen.

What is the accomplishment you are the most proud of to date?

Having a consistently full private practice with a wait list. I am so committed and dedicated to helping my clients and to see that I am doing that is everything to me.

Do you believe in work/life balance? What are some of your best tips?

It’s a work in progress. You can do it all, but not all at the same time. I have become really good at delegation and giving up some control to trust others to help me.

What’s a piece of advice you can share that you wish you’d known when you first started your Entreprenista journey?

Keep pushing through your fear and stop worrying about what other people think. Failure is progress because at least you tried. And now that you tried, you can learn and get even better.

What have you achieved recently that you’d like to celebrate with our community?

I started selling my online anxiety management course, The Path to Peace!!

What’s next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

I will be coaching “workaholic moms” find ways to set more boundaries and have more time with their families.
